—-Minister of Labour and Social Security, Fackson Shamenda, has disclosed that government will soon introduce a productivity centre which would be measuring the productivity of workers in places of work.

Mr Shamenda noted that this would enable workers to work hard in the execution of their duties.

He said workers that would not be productive enough would be shown the way out in places of work.

Mr Shamenda was speaking at a consultative labour council meeting at new government complex in Lusaka today.

And speaking at the same occasion, Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU), president, Leonard Hikaumba, disclosed that his organization proposed that the retirement age should have an upper and a lower limit.

Mr Hikaumba explained that those who would want to leave the workforce to do business should be allowed to retire so as not to have divided loyalty if they do both.

Meanwhile, Mr Hikaumba also commended government for refusing to extend the period of the Technical Committee Drafting the Constitution.

And speaking earlier, Federation of Free Trade Unions president, Joyce Simukoko, noted that the country has to come up with labour laws that would benefit the young generation.

Mrs Simukoko observed that if that spirit is upheld by every Zambian, the country would be a better place to live in.
