Civil servants urged
Solwezi, June 24, ZANIS —–North-Western Provincial Deputy Permanent Secretary Alfred Chingi has urged civil servants in the province to implement government programs timely and effective.
Mr Chingi said it is important that civil servants in the province ensure that government programmes are implemented effectively which should result in proper delivery of services to the people.
He was speaking in Solwezi today during the commemoration of the Africa Public Service Day under the theme “African Public Service in the Age of Open Government: Giving Voice to Citizens,”
Mr Chingi noted that civil service is a conduit through which government delivers various services to the people and called on the workers to take advantage of this day to explain to the general public how government operates.
“Sometimes people complain that the civil service is slow and so on. On a day like this take time as civil servants to explain to people so that they may have a better understanding on how government works”, he said.
Africa Public Service Day is an annual event which falls on 23rd June but it was held today June 24th to accommodate many civil servants that could not make it on Sunday due to other social and spiritual engagements.
