THE National Assembly of Zambia has written to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) declaring the Chawama parliamentary seat vacant.
According to the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) television news, dates for the by-election will be announced soon.
The Chawama seat fell vacant after its Member of Parliament (MP) Edgar Lungu was elected President last month.
