THE British government says it is ready to support the Zambian government to hold the forthcoming Presidential by-election after the demise of President Sata.
British High Commissioner to Zambia James Thornton said his government would be happy to consider such a request.
In response to a press query, Mr Thornton said the British government had planned to provide support to the 2016 general elections but will now consider including the presidential by-election in its support.
He said the British government has supported recent national elections in Zambia, including the presidential by-election in 2008.
