Deplorable drainage system worries DC
Lusaka, July 11, 2014, ZANIS………………………Lusaka District Commissioner Ashell Kampengele has expressed worry over the deplorable state of some drainage systems in the district.
Mr Kampengele who took time to check on the drainage system along Lumumba and Chandwe Musonda roads said it was disappointing that Lusaka City Council was failing to maintain the drainage system in the district.
“I am very disappointed with you LCC, all this while you have failed to clean and maintain the drainages”, Mr Kampengele said.
The District Commissioner said it was sad that the drainage systems have now turned into galleys, a situation he said was dangerous especially in the rain season.
“The drainages have now turned into galleys, and what will happen in the next rain season, it will be a disaster”, he said.
Mr. Kampengele however commended some companies along Chandwe Musonda road for taking it upon themselves to construct bridges on the paths leading to their premises.
“Look these companies have now started doing things for themselves
because you the council are not helping them”, he said.
And Lusaka City Council Markets Manager Reuben Matibula referred all queries to the engineering department when asked by journalists to comment on the issues raised by the DC.
Meanwhile, Mr Kampengele has summoned the Lusaka City Council Engineering department to explain on their alleged failure to work on the drainage system.
