THE Immigration Department has deported an Italian national who was arrested after he was found taking photos of the Zambia National Service’s Makeni Garrisson.
Bosi Evandro, 49, unemployed of Makeni was deported to Italy his country of origin at around 21:00hrs on Thursday via Kenneth Kaunda International Airport after being convicted by principal resident magistrate Aridah Chulu for criminal trespass.
Principal resident magistrate Aridah Chulu sentenced Evandro to three months Imprisonment with hard labour suspended for nine months and also ordered that he be deported from Zambia.
Evandro entered Zambia on March 30th, 2014 via Kenneth Kaunda International Airport as an ordinary visitor and was arrested after he was found taking photos of the Zambia National Service’s Makeni Garrisson.
This is contained in a statement released by Immigration Department, Public Relations Officer, Namati Nshinka yesterday.
He said in another development, the Magistrate Court in Kitwe convicted a Congolese man for failing to appear before an immigration officer when exiting contrary to section 16 as read with sections 52 (1) and 56(1) of the Immigration and Deportation Act number 18 of 2010.
The Congolese national was also convicted for being in possession of two valid passports without authority contrary to section 55 of the Act.
“In the first count of failing to appear before an immigration officer Obumu Moussa Djouma (57) was sentenced to a fine of K 10,000 or in default nine months imprisonment with hard labour.
“In the second count of being in possession of two valid passports without authority, he was sentenced to a fine of K 1,000 or in default nine months imprisonment with hard labour to run concurrently. He has since been removed from Zambia after paying the fines amounting K 11,000 for both counts, Mr Nshinka said.
And the Magistrate Court in Chililabombwe convicted and sentenced two Congolese nationals to a fine of K 2,000 each or in default three months simple imprisonment for unlawful entry.
The same Court also convicted and sentenced another Congolese national to a fine of K 1,900 or in default three months simple imprisonment for unlawful entry.
