The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) in Muchinga Province has implored various employers in the area to start preparing for this year’s Labour Day celebrations to avoid panicking at the last minute.
ZCTU Provincial Coordinator Nondo Kasanda told ZANIS in an interview that employers in the region should begin preparing to award deserving workers now.
Mr. Kasanda noted that most government ministries and departments in the province have performed extremely well, a development which warrants the praise and motivational package from their employers.
He cited the Ministry of Education as one sector that did well and consequently scooped the first position in 2013 grade twelve results in the country.
He said many other ministries and departments have performed exceptionally well in delivering quality services to the people in the province.
Mr. Kasanda said Labour Day should not come like an accident noting that preparations should begin on time.
The ZCTU Provincial Coordinator further pointed out that taxi operators in the province should start considering awarding their drivers this year.
Mr. Kasanda stressed that taxi drivers risk their lives as they execute their duties every day hence the need for their employers to motivate them.
