The Zambia Police says is not moved by the directive by the UPND leadership to its members to always arm themselves against Police whenever they are attending rallies following the attack by Police on UPND members in Mambwe district yesterday.
Police Spokesperson Charity Munganga Chanda says Police stand ready to maintain law and order.
Mrs Chanda has told Qfm News that the Police are there to keep peace and protect the lives and property of people in the country regardless of whether there are threats or not.
Mrs. Chanda says if the UPND chooses to hold its rallies with its members armed with weapons, the Police will also move in and do its work as no one is allowed to go out armed to cause confusion and breach the peace in society.
She however states that Police will have no problem with the UPND if they follow the provision of the Public Order ACT.
