A 70-year-old man of Simukama village in Choma has been shot dead.
Southern Province commissioner of police Charity Katanga, who confirmed the incident in an interview yesterday, identified the deceased as Tenson Moonga of Chief Chikanta’s area.
Mrs Katanga said Mr Moonga was allegedly shot dead by unknown person on Tuesday around 05:00 hours.
She said Mr Moonga died after sustaining a fractured left shoulder.
“Tenson Moonga, 70, of Simukama village in Chief Chikanta’s area in Choma was shot dead by an unknown person who is suspected to have used a home-made gun. The deceased sustained a deep wound on the left shoulder,” Mrs Katanga said.
She said the body of Mr Moonga is lying in the Choma District Hospital mortuary awaiting post mortem and burial.
