Govt. hailed over Choma- Nakeempa roadworks
Choma, July 13, 2013, ZANIS–Villagers in Simpwezye area of Choma district have thanked the Patriotic Front(PF) government for rehabilitating the 23 km Choma- Nakeempa road at the cost of K 2.2 billion.
The villagers said the grading of the road has not only provided comfort when travelling but has also brought relief to many people who were provided with employment opportunities under the project.
They felt the PF government has demonstrated its commitment to fulfilling the campaign promises by working on the road which was last graded in 1984.
The villagers also said they were happy to have found temporal employment contending that the situation has helped them to find money to buy food for their families.
ZANIS reports from Choma that the villagers said this during the spot check of road works conducted by Choma PF district political secretary (DPS) Bernadette Hamweemba.

And an engineer for Tukamona Company limited working on the Nakeempa feeder road said the company has beaten the projected deadline for works to be completed by two months.
Brian Kaunda said the initially works on the road were projected to be completed in four months but due to commitment and dedication, the company has already covered all the 23 km required to be done.
“The only remaining thing now is spot maintenance on the areas that are bad and I want to also take advantage to assure government that the company will do a good job,” said Brian.
He said the company had also employed 40 local people as a way of empowering them.
Meanwhile, Ms. Hamweemba said government will not allow contractors to do shoddy works hence the spot checks on all the projects government is undertaking in the district.
Ms.Hamweemba said the PF party in the district will work closely with the people in order to foster development and monitor how their money is used.
