Govt. urges public workers to understand their respective job descriptions

Chipata , June 19th,  2013, ZANIS….Government has urged the civil service in Eastern province to well
acquainted with their job descriptions in order to efficiently explain their roles during the public service road shows ahead of the Public Service Day which falls on June 24th, 2013.

 

Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Bert Mushala says it was important for all civil servants to ensure that they understood  the  various services they provided to the public who may have pressing issues during the road shows.

 

ZANIS reports that the Permanent Secretary said  this in an interview in Chipata , today.

He said public workers should be prepared to provide answers as the public service day road shows to kick off this week would provide a platform where they could make the community understand their services.

 

Mr. Mushala said they should be able to explain their goals, mission statements and the efforts they were making to achieve set targets.

 

Mr. Mushala said the public service workers should also be able to explain the theme “African Public Service in the Age of Open Government: Giving Voice to Citizens.”

 

He also stated that deserving exhibitors would be awarded in three categories among them; Improving Transparency, accountability and responsiveness in the public service, promoting whole of Government approaches in the info-mechanisms and implementing Gender –Responsive delivery to the public service.

 

The Permanent Secretary also appealed to people in the province to visit the Kapata where the road shows would be conducted in order to get information that would provide a better understanding of public service delivery.

 

He urged all residents who had pressing issues to visit the stands and get their answers.

 

The Public Service Day celebration which is an annual event is meant to reflect on issues affecting the African Public Service in order to generate interest to work in the public service, reward outstanding initiatives and promote professionalism in the public service.
