The two lodges which are built behind the council guest house are owned by Kapijimpanga ward councilor Yobe Katuka Ndekai and former Tunvwanganai ward council Peter Kapamba.
The action was prompted by an order given by Minister of local government and housing Emerine Kabanshi during a courtesy call meeting with the mayor and councillors at the mayor’s parlour.
Ms Kabanshi said people should not be allowed to build structures without legal authority from the council as the situation was detrimental to service delivery in the district.
Ms Kabanshi who also witnessed the demolishing of the two lodges said the local authority should start with cleaning itself before going out to demolish other illegal structures.
And Mayor Andrew Kalangwa maintained that the council did not allow the two councillors to build the structures.
But former Councilor Kabampa who rushed to stop the graders from pulling down the lodge contended that he had documents for the plot and that the council was aware of the structures.
