–Serenje district councilors have resolved to report cases of alleged misappropriation of constituency development funds involving two contractors to the investigative wings.

It was reported that on June 20, 2012 the council approved and paid KR 29, 200 to Beacie Sikapizya to purchase building materials for the construction of a shelter to be used as Ika cemetery.
However, the contractor has abandoned the project and has since been chased out of the district by the community.
The meeting was informed that the contractor is believe to be a resident of Kapiri Mposhi and that he has since been written to by the council requesting that the remaining building materials in his custody be retained.
Another contractor Isaac Chipeta who was paid KR23 000 on July 11, 2012 to mould 6000 bricks for the construction of toilets at the new market but that the council has so far collected only about 2,395 bricks remaining with 3,605 to be collected for the works to be completed.
The councilors have however expressed disappointment that the management paid the contractors before the works were completed saying the trend should be avoided at all costs.
