Govt. saddened by the poor workmanship at the new Mayukwayukwa High School
Mayukwayukwa, March 20th 2013, ZANIS — Government says it is disappointed with the poor workmanship on the water reticulation and sanitation systems in the newly built high Schools in western Province.
Western Province Permanent Secretary Emmanuel Mwamba says his office will for this reason direct the Education Authorities in the province to address the problem.
He said the Provincial Education Office together with the Kaoma District Education Board Secretary should jointly address the situation urgently before the school becomes operational.
ZANIS reports that the Permanent Secretary said this in Mayukwayukwa area west of Kaoma District today when he toured Mayukwayukwa High School.
Mr. Mwamba and his team leant that the new school has poor water reticulation and sanitation system which he said will have to be addressed.
Because of this children of school going age are forced to walk for kilometers away to the nearest schools in the surrounding areas to learn.
He said it was unacceptable for the district to deploy pupils to other schools when government has constructed a high at Mayukwayukwa.
And District Education Standard Officer Banita Gwebete said the connection of electricity, water and sanitation were included in the initial project but was not done hence she has appealed to the contractor to finish the works.
