MISS Tourism Zambia 2012 winner Winfridah Kabwe has embarked on a mission to promote Zambia’s tourism and raise awareness for the forthcoming United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Conference slated for Livingstone this year.
Kabwe, the reigning Miss Tourism Zambia said it is important to take advantage of the UNWTO and sell the country’s tourism potential.
“We have started the work with my management but I won’t pre-empt what we are going to be doing but we are on the ground working for mother Zambia,” Kabwe said.
She said in an interview after she met the Tourism Minister Sylvia Masebo at the Radison Blu Hotel in Lusaka during the week. The 22-year-old Zambia Centre for Accountancy Studies (ZCAS) student said her task is now to work with the Ministry of Tourism and Arts and market Zambia’s tourist attractions and raise awareness on the forthcoming UNWTO Conference
After winning the Zambian crown, she represented Zambia at the Miss Tourism International in Malaysia but did not make it into the top 10.
“I represented my country well in the Miss Tourism International contest, though I never made it in the top 10, I am happy that I managed to market Zambia to the world,” she said.
Zambia is jointly hosting the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Conference with Zimbabwe in Livingstone in August.
