2 die after being hit by vehicle
Lusaka, May 10th, ZANIS—Two people died on the spot yesterday after being hit by a Toyota Hiace minibus along Leopards Hill Road near Sokota Farms in Lusaka East.
Zambia Police Service Deputy Public Relations Officer Charity Chanda said the accident happened at around 05:30 hours after the driver of a Toyota Hiace Registration number ALG 1203 lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speeding and hit the two pedestrians who were off the road.
In a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today, Ms. Chanda has since identified the two deceased persons as Joseph Zulu aged 29 and Sekeni Phiri aged 32 both of unknown house numbers in Bauleni compound.
She said the driver, identified as Albert Mkandawire 28, of Roma Township sustained head injuries and is admitted at CFB Hospital while the bodies of the deceased are lying in the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
