Cabinet has approved the National Anti-Money Laundering/Countering the Financing of Terrorism strategy for 2015-2017.
The approved strategy provides a roadmap of how the Anti-Money Laundering/Countering the Financing of Terrorism system will develop and deliver effective outcomes.
Acting Chief Government Spokesperson Vincent Mwale has told journalists at State House this afternoon that the strategy, which is a resolution decision of the 20th Cabinet Meeting, held yesterday, Monday, 21st September, has been approved in line with the global trends and techniques in dealing with terrorism.
Mr. Mwale states that at national level the development of the strategy demonstrates commitment of the Zambian government to the international Anti-Money Laundering/Countering the Financing of Terrorism standards.

He says Cabinet also approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) of United States of America.
Mr. Mwale who is also Sport and Youth Minister says the approved MoU is expected to enhance international cooperation in combating illicit drugs and control over chemical precursors.
He states that Cabinet further approved in principal the introduction of the Movable Property Security Bill 2015 in Parliament that will provide for the utilization of movable assets as collateral and the creation of security interests in movable properties.
And Mwale says Cabinet during the same meeting recognized June 13th as the International Albinism Awareness Day to be commemorated annually in Zambia.
He adds that also approved was the Civil Aviation Bill 2015 for publication and introduction in Parliament in line with President Edgar Lungu’s address to Parliament last Friday.
The Cabinet Meeting further resolved to approve that Zambia hosts the Africa Youth under 20 football championships in 2017 with the view of promoting development of sports in the Country.
Mr Mwale has observed that the hosting of this tournament is major milestone for Zambia as it will now meet the prerequisite to host other football tournament such as the Africa Cup of Nations or the World Cup in future.
