Airtel Managing director, Peter Correia says Airtel money is being repositioned and will now be able to facilitate international money transfer in countries where Airtel has a presence.
Mr. Correia said this in Lusaka on Monday when the mobile phone service provider rebranded Airtel money by adding a new tag line called Shuwa-Shuwa.
And Airtel money Country Director Brenda Thole says the Airtel money product will help facilitate trade in the SADC and Comesa region while at the same time creating jobs in Zambia through the 1,000 Shuwa-shuwa agents around the country.
Mrs Thole said in the next six months the Airtel money will introduce debit cards and also facilitate internet payments.
She told ZNBC that the Airtel money has grown by about 300 percent between 2014 and 2015 adding corporate clients are now using the platform to pay salaries to employees.
Meanwhile the network has appointed veteran broadcaster and ZNBC Director of News and Current Affairs Kenneth Maduma as Airtel money brand ambassador.
And Mr Maduma said he is honored and humbled to have been appointed the brand ambassador and promised to leave up to the expectations of a trusted brand.
