ZAMBEZI Portland Cement (ZPC) has welcomed the decision by the Government to drop William Nyirenda as Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA) chairperson.
The Government, through Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe terminated the chairmanship of Mr Nyirenda at the weekend after five years of being at the helm of the Agency.
A ZPC spokesperson said in Ndola yesterday that the dropping of Mr Nyirenda as chairperson for PACRA was long overdue and appreciated the decision made by the Government as it would promote transparency as there would not be any conflict of interest.
“The continued stay at the helm of PACRA of Mr Nyirenda was not healthy for the organisation, considering the fact that he is also on the board of directors of Finance Bank, where he has been serving the interests of businessman Rajan Mahtani.
“We, therefore, wish to state that the decision to relieve Mr Nyirenda of his duties as PACRA chairman would no doubt promote transparency and remove conflict of interest at PACRA,” the spokesperson said in a statement. – Story courtesy of SUMA SYSTEMS
