THREE people died on the spot while one person sustained serious injuries in Ndola when the vehicle they were in lost control and hit into a building on Kabelenga Avenue.
The three men died on the spot in the accident that happened after midnight next to the Times Printpak (Z) Limited office, while a survivor is currently receiving treatment at Ndola Central Hospital (NCH).
Some Times staffers who witnessed the accident assisted in taking the survivor to the hospital and also reported the matter to the Fire Brigade who came to retrieve the bodies.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner Joyce Kasosa said the Toyota Corolla registration number ACX 4836 moving at excessive speed lost control and hit into the nearby building.
Ms Kasosa said Police would on Monday begin to trace the relatives of the deceased by establishing the owner of the vehicle.
She said the deceased were in their 30s. NCH public relations officer Sheona Chalimbana said the condition of the passenger was stable.
Meanwhile, PASSY HAACHIZO reports that the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has arrested more than 20 people countrywide for trafficking in various quantities of cannabis.
In a statement, DEC deputy public relations officer Mutale Chileshe said the commission arrested Sipesha Noombo, 37, a peasant farmer of Numbu Village in Namwala District for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 10.92kg.
DEC also arrested John Mumba, 74, a peasant farmer of Kanyama Village in Petauke District for trafficking in 6.7kg of loose cannabis and Namunji Nosiku, 30, of Akabondo area in Sesheke District for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 1.68kg.
Mr Chileshe said in Luapula Province, the commission arrested Sonwell Nkalamu, 55, of Kampampi Village in Nchelenge District for trafficking in 5.401kg of loose cannabis.
