World Boxing Council -WBC- International Welterweight champion Charles Manyuchi is on Friday expected to officially weigh in ahead of his defence title bout against Italian boxer Gianlucca Frezza on Saturday.
Manyuchi and Frezza will weigh in at about 17 hours Zambian time.
Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions Operations Director Chris Malunga says Manyuchi is in high spirits and will do his best to retain the belt.
Malunga said the Zimbabwean boxer has adapted well to the weather in Sequals, Italy, which he says is similar to Zambia’s weather pattern.
Manyuchi this week told ZNBC Sports that he knows what is at stake as he steps into the ring tomorrow, and that nothing will stop him from retaining his belt.
Zimbabwe’s Sports minister Andrew Langa has travelled to Italy with a number of Zimbabweans based in the United Kingdom to offer support to Manyuchi.
Manyuchi has 15 wins, two losses and a draw, while his 35-year-old Italian opponent has an impressive professional career record of 22 wins, with seven being knockouts, two draws and two losses.
The fight takes place on Saturday between 22:30 and 23:00 hours Zambian time.
Go man fight and hammer.
