Hundreds of Patriotic Front members in Kasama today staged a protest demanding for a fresh parliamentary by-election in Kasama Central Constituency.
This follows the expulsion of area Member of Parliament Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba by the PF central committee recently.
The PF members led by former PF Provincial vice chairman Peter Mwansa charged they cannot no longer work with Mr. Mwamba because he is allegedly working against the ruling party.
And Mr. Mwansa said the Kasama law-maker has lost popularity among party members hence their call for a fresh parliamentary by-elections in the area.
He added that the fact that Mr. Mwamba openly supported the candidature of the opposition UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema in the last presidential election is enough cause for him to be expelled from PF.
He said the party in the Northern Province is more than ready to replace Mr. Mwamba in Kasama central Constituency.
Mr. Mwansa said the party is now looking forward to electing someone who will be able to address the challenges people in the community were facing.
The PF demonstration started from their party office in Kasama into the central business area with members carrying banners and chanting songs of solidarity in support of the expulsion of Kasama Central MP Geoffrey Mwamba from the ruling party.
Within 3 months if accepted by the expelled MP. Take your heart ba PF cadres. No need to protest just wasting energy and your time to do productive things for your families. Kafweyeniko impiya.
