———- Kalulushi District Commissioner has condemned the political violence that has erupted in Kalulushi after a guest house got burnt.
District Commissioner Kampamba Mulenga told ZANIS in an interview in Kalulushi today that it was sad that a Patriotic Front-PF official’s guest house had been burnt to ashes by suspected opponents.
Ms. Mulenga said such form of violence should be condemned because Zambia is a democratic nation and everyone was free to join a political party of their own.
She said all meaningful Zambians should condemn such acts.
She further appealed to members of the public to report those suspected to be involved in the political violence to the police.
Meanwhile, Ms. Mulenga has appealed to all political parties in the district to put aside political differences and attend this year’s Women Day celebrations.
Ms. Mulenga said it was important for everyone to attend the International Women’s Day function as it was a day for all Zambians.
She said such events were national events and should not be politicised.
"Which ever political party you are affiliated to, you should attend, whether you are a woman or youth," Ms. Mulenga said.
Meanwhile, Ms. Mulenga has urged women to acquire further education saying once a woman is educated the whole nation would benefit.
This year’s Theme for IWD is "Gender MY Agenda: Make it happen."
