Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Chishimba Kambwili says he is already in serious discussions with the Times of Zambia management with regards the delayed salary arrears for unionized workers at the media institution.
Mr. Kambwili has told Qfm news that there is need no need for workers at Times of Zambia to panic about their salary arrears.
He says it is unacceptable for an institution such the Times of Zambia to keep workers without pay for more than a month.
Mr. Kambwili who is also Chief Government Spokesperson has maintained that government is committed to improving the conditions of service for journalists in the country.
He stresses that it is in this regard that as minister responsible he has opened discussions with the top management at the Times of Zambia to see how best the issue salary arrears can be resolved.
The information Minister has since appealed to workers at Times of Zambia to be patient and continue putting in their best as government looks into their plight.
