Govt. happy with the K1.8 million-Kanyama Breeding Center in Mwinilunga

Mwinilunga, January 6th, 2014, ZANIS —   Northwestern province Minister Dawson Kafwaya has expressed happiness with progress at the K1.8 million Kanyama livestock breeding center in Mwinilunga district.

And Chief Kanyama of the Lunda speaking people in Mwinilunga district has expressed concern over the
stalled construction works of the K44.2 million Kanyama boarding secondary school.

Mr Kafwaya said government is committed to developing the livestock sector in the country for social economic benefit of the people.

ZANIS reports that the Minister said this in Mwinilunga district yesterday after touring the project.

Mr Kafwaya said people in the district will soon start seeing the positive benefits of this viable project and urged the department of agriculture to sensitize the local people on the importance of livestock farming.

He said government remains committed to ensuring that such viable projects aimed at improving the living standard of people in the province through wealth and job creation are fully implemented.

District Agricultural Coordinator Bwalya Ponga said funding towards the project has not been consistent to address challenges being faced and appealed to government to look into the matter.

And Chief Kanyama of the Lunda speaking people in Mwinilunga district has expressed concern over the stalled construction works of the K44.2 million Kanyama boarding secondary school.

The delayed completion of the school works started in 2009 is negatively affecting the delivery of education in his chiefdom and is appealing to government to fund the completion of the project, said the Traditional leader.

Chief Kanyama was speaking in Mwinilunga district yesterday when provincial minister Dawson Kafwaya called on him.

District Education Standards Officer Topson Katoka said the project was scheduled to complete in 2011 adding that erratic funding has contributed to the delayed opening of the school.

Mr Katoka said only a few final works are remaining to complete the project citing the water and power connection among others.

And provincial Minister Dawson Kafwaya said he will ensure that final works that are delaying the opening of the school are worked soon.

Mr Kafwaya said government wants to see such projects fully implemented for the benefit of the local people and urged Traditional leaders to support such projects being implemented in their areas.
