Slow pace of projects irks Kafwaya

Kafwaya is disappointed with the pace at which developmental projects
are being executed in the districts.

Mr. Kafwaya has therefore tasked the respective provincial district administrations in the
region to pull up their socks in supervising works in all areas of
development.

He said President Edgar Lungu was interested to see development being
delivered to the people.

ZANIS reports that Mr Kafwaya, who is on a familiarization tour of the province, said
this after inspecting some developmental projects in Ikelenge district
yesterday.

He said it was only when people saw completed developmental projects
that they would appreciate government’s efforts.

Mr Kafwaya warned that he would not hesitate to do away with people
that were frustrating government efforts by failing to perform.

Among the projects the minister inspected included the construction of
Ikelenge boarding secondary school at the cost of K 46 million,
construction of 10 council houses at K4.6 million and the district
commissioner’s house.

He also had time to inspect the site where the district intends to put
up district administrations offices at a cost of K 5 million.

Speaking at the same occasion, Ikelenge district administrative officer,
Agrippa Chitambala called for re-examination of the selection of some
contractors.

He said in some cases projects are delayed because some contractors
who do not have capacity to execute the projects on account of lacking
equipment are selected from Lusaka.
