90 Mkushi schools benefit from WFP
Mkushi, FEB 3, 2015, ZANIS—More than 90 Schools in Mkushi district have benefitted from the World Food Program(WFP) school feeding program.
Mkushi District Education School Feeding Program Coordinator Richard Chibadula disclosed the development to ZANIS yesterday.
Mr. Chibadula said that the district received a total of 256.98 metric tones of maize cereal which translated into 10,279 by 25kg bags of mealie meal.
He said apart from this, 37.9 metric tones or 758 by 50 kg bags of cow peas had also been delivered to the district to complete the package for the program.
He noted that the distribution of the food items was currently on going explaining that the food was delivered as the consignment for the first term of the 2015 academic calender.
Mr. Chibadula explained that the program had targeted government as well as community schools adding that the WFP had maintained its delivery of food to schools in the district for the past three years.
