—–Sinazongwe PF District Political Secretary, Reuben Munyati, has commended President Edgar Lungu for appointing Nalolo Member of Parliament, Inonge Wina, as the country’s first female Vice President.
Mr Munyati said the decision taken by Mr Lungu to appoint a female Vice President signifies his determination to recognise the leadership role women can play in national development.
“In the history of Zambia, it has never happened before and President Edgar Lungu has set precedence by appointing a female Vice President which is a sign of his desire to provide an equal opportunity for both men and women in governance,” he said.
Meanwhile, a senior citizen and member of the PF in Choma district of Southern Province, Benedictor Muncansona, has praised President Lungu for appointing the country’s first female Vice President.
Mr Muncansona said President Lungu should also consider appointing five females as Provincial Ministers out of the ten he is expected to appoint soon to enhance gender equality in governance.
Mr Munyanti has blamed former Southern Minister, Daniel Munkombwe, for the low votes the Patriotic Front got in the just-ended Presidential election.
He said Mr Munkombwe destroyed the PF in the province because he failed to deliver during his tenure as Southern Province Minister.
“Although people are saying the people of Southern Province voted on tribal grounds, the PF could not get the desired results because the then Provincial Minister, Daniel Munkombwe, failed to build the party in the province,” he said.
Mr Munyati said the party in the province did not do much on the ground during the campaigns because Mr Munkombwe, who was PF Provincial Chairman and Minister, did not meet the expectation of the people in the province.
