———Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Edgar Lungu has won in Chipata Central Constituency in Eastern province after polling 10,883 votes against his closet rival, Hakainde Hichilema of the UPND, who got 3,228 votes in yesterday’s Presidential election.
Returning officer, Mwila Kalobwe, announced that results from all the 38 polling stations have been verified and FDD’s Edith Nawakwi polled 210, UNIP’s Tilyenji Kaunda polled 111 and Nevers Mumba of the MMD polled 76.
Others are Heritage Party’s Godfrey Miyanda who got 45, NAREP’s Elias Chipimo polled 40, and 4th Revolution Party’s Eric Chanda got 38 votes.
Mr Kalobwe said Christian Democratic Party (CDP)’s Dan Pule polled 36 votes while Green Party of Peter Sikamba managed to get 9 and FDA’s Ludwig Sondashi polled 9 votes.
Mr Kalobwe also said 125 ballot papers were rejected.
Chipata central constituency has a total of 49,744 registered voters and 38 polling stations.
