National Savings and Credit Bank (NATSAVE) Zambia Limited will soon open a new branch in Kazungula district of the Southern province.
This follows the handed over of the construction site for the new branch to Greevis Enterprises Construction Company of Lusaka in Kazungula yesterday by the Bank.
Director Human Resources and Administration Maxwell Saya said at the handover ceremony held in Kazungula that the bank has over 30 branches across the country.
Mr. Saya said Kazungula was one of the developing districts which needed financial services so that the people could be encouraged to save their money.
He disclosed that the new branch will built at a cost of K4.1 million and will also include the construction of two staff houses.
Mr. Saya said Kazungula had great potential for development adding that NATSAVE will be the first bank to be constructed in the area.
He said that the project will be completed in 24 weeks once the construction begins.
And the contractor, Greenwell Chimfwembe, assured NATSAVE that the project shall be completed within the stipulated time frame.
Mr. Chimfwembe added that his company will make sure that the local communities are given first priority for the jobs that will be created during the construction period which commences at the end of January.
Meanwhile, Kazungula District Council Secretary Winstone Kasonkomona said he was impressed with what NATSAVE was about to do in the district.
Mr. Kasonkomona sounded a warning to would be investors in Kazungula district to take development seriously before their plots are repossessed.
He expressed disappointments at some plot owners who have not yet developed their land eight years after acquiring the plots adding that the Council would soon write warning letters to them so that action can be taken on the idle plots.
Mr. Kasonkomona however expressed hope that Kazungula district will never be the same after some of the ongoing developmental projects are completed such as the district hospital which he toured yesterday.
