Acting President Scott urges health workers to be gentle to patients
Samfya, January 14th, ZANIS–Acting President Guy Scott has urged
health workers in the country to be kind and gentle to the patients in
their execution of duties.
Dr. Scott says showing respect and compassion towards patients
is the core bottom line of quality health care delivery.
He urged the health workers to be lenient with patients as most of
them lack the full mental, physical and psychological capacity due to
their condition.
The Acting President also implored patients to work together with the
health workers in order to achieve the desired mutual health benefits.
ZANIS Reports that Dr. Scott said this today when he officially
commissioned the 150 bed space capacity of the new Samfya District
Hospital.
The new Samfya District Hospital will offer among other services such
as Xra, male circumcision, dental services and physiotherapy for the
two hundred and six thousand population of the district.
And Luapula Province Minister Brigadier General Benson Kapaya said the
hospital will improve the lives of people in the district especially
mothers and children.
Brig. Gen. Kapaya said the new hospital will reduce on the traveling
costs and distance of referring patients to Mansa General Hospital
which is eighty kilometers from Samfya District.
Meanwhile, Senior Chief Kalasamukoso of the Kabende speaking people of
Samfya praised government for constructing the new district hospital.
Chief Mukoso however appealed to the people of Samfya to seriously
guard the new facility and desists from all acts of vandalism.
