Lukulu receives Village Banking funds
Lukulu, December 25, ZANIS — ————– Community Development, Mother and Child Health Ministry through the department of Community Development in Lukulu district in Western province has released K83 million for village banking program.
Community Development village banking officer Given Beenzu said this money will be given to women’s groups as soft loans.
Mr. Beenzu said about 50 clubs have been targeted to kick start the project in Mwandi and Kamilende wards.
Mr. Beenzu said this yesterday during the Senior Management meeting for District Heads of Government Department and parastatal held at the council chambers.
He explained that recipients are women who are already in business saying that the village banking monies are not meant for starting up businesses.
He further explained that the beneficiaries will be required to make weekly payments of their loans in order for the department to keep on giving other recruitments.
He added that the department will be making weekly monitoring visits to the beneficiaries in order to address some of their challenges.
Lukulu District Commissioner Precious Muyenga has instructed the department to expedite the commencement of the programs which was supposed to start about two months ago.
