Voter Education Facilitators cautioned
Kabwe, December 17, ZANIS ——————– Kabwe District Electoral officer Oliver Muuka, has cautioned Voter Education Facilitators (VEFs) to ensure they stick to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) code of conduct as they go about sensitizing voters in the district.
Speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Kabwe today, Mr. Muuka warned that his office will not hesitate to revoke the contract of any one of the 27 facilitators who would be found wanting.
Mr. Muuka said Voter Education Facilitators were cardinal as they contribute to holding of free and fare elections and enhancing high voter turnout.
The 27 Voter Education Facilitators who were trained under the Electoral Commission of Zambia District Voter education (DVEC) program have since been deployed.
Mr Muuka who is also Kabwe Municipal Council town clerk emphasized the need for Voter Education Facilitators to be neutral in their duty to avoid bringing ECZ into disrepute and also confusing voters.
He said ECZ expected the Voter Education Facilitators to be outstanding in their operations of educating voters and also publicizing the January 20, 2015 Presidential election.
He also charged the Voter Education Facilitators to ensure they reached all the voters in their respect wards of operation.
Meanwhile, Mr. Muuka has also urged the District Voter Education Committee (DVEC) to monitor the VEFs effectively to ensure they delivered the right material to the voters.
