Clergyman calls for prudent management of resources during the mourning period

–A clergyman in Mansa has called on politicians and government officers charged with the management of public resources to be prudent even in the light of mourning the late Republican President Michael Chilufya Sata.

Faith Fellowship Ministries International Pastor, Jerry Lombanya, made the call at St Michael Parish in Namwandwe village inMansa district during the Interdenominational Prayer meeting in honour of the late President.

Pastor Lombanya said politicians and government officers charged with the responsibility of managing public resources should not take advantage of the funeral of the Head of State to abuse public resources because the law will catch up with them soon or later.

He said Zambia has always recognized God in its governance structures beginning with Dr Kenneth Kaunda, who has been preaching the first commandment of loving God and the second of loving others as oneself coupled with the golden rule of doing to others as one would like them do to them.

He said Dr Frederick Chiluba declared Zambia as a Christian Nation while Dr Levy Mwanawasa got baptized in water publicly for his faith in God when he was a sitting Republican President.

PAtor Lombanya added that immediate past President, Rupiah Banda, preached peace and unity while the late President Michael Chilufya Sata declared that he was going to govern the country using the Ten Commandments.

And Luapula Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Joyce Nsamba, reminded congregants of St Michael Parish that the last time the late Republican President Sata visited Mansa, he made a stop- over at the Parish and greeted some people on his way from unveiling the foundation stone for the construction of Luapula University in the Zambia Research Institute area of Mansa.

Ms Nsamba called on all Zambians to mourn the late President in peace and with dignity.

She appealed for a peaceful transition so that developmental projects for uplifting the living standards of the people started in the province could be continued.

And Parish Chairman, John Chola, said the late President was God’s gift to Zambia and there was cause to celebrate his life because of the various developmental projects he carried out country wide.

Mr Chola said President Sata will be remembered for improving roads, bringing street lights and traffic lights to Mansa and other projects in the education and health sectors.
