Nchelenge secondary school mourns Sata

Nchelenge, Nov 6, 2014, ZANIS…Teachers and pupils of Nchelenge Secondary School in Luapula province yesterday joined the rest of the district to mourn President Michael Sata.

The school delegation visited the District Commissioners official residence which has been designated at the mourning venue for the district.

The horde of the pupils accompanied by their teachers that included the acting head teacher Tacitias Mwansa arrived at Mr. Chakaba’s house in the morning.

And speaking on behalf of the teachers and the pupils, the acting head teacher Mr. Mwansa said President Sata brought back the dignity of teachers and the nobility of work in the education sector.

Mr. Mwansa said the conditions of service for the public service workers and teachers in particular were improved during the three years of President Sata’s reign.

He said most teachers today are happy and able to own property because they were well remunerated under the leadership of the departed President.

“President Sata took good care of the teachers and generally the common denominator is that teachers are now well paid,” he said.

He observed that teachers currently enjoy other incentives such as housing allowance for those that are not in institutional houses.

He said President Sata will be remembered by the teaching fraternity for restoring the dignity of the teachers through good salaries among other incentives.

He described the departed PF leader and Zambia’s Fifth Republican President as a gallant man who could not relent to talk for the poor in society especially in the rural dwellings.

Mr. Mwansa advised the politicians in the country to mourn the late President with dignity as he urged for peace and harmony.

He prayed that the almighty God will give the first family and the Zambian people comfort and strength during this difficult period.

And Nchelenge Secondary School pupils said they will remember President Sata for improving the learning environment and the introduction of the revised curriculum.

Joseph Ng’ombe, a prefect at the one of the oldest schools in the district said the introduction of the revised curriculum that provides for two career pathways under President Sata’s administration will greatly help to improve the quality of education.

He said under the revised curriculum pupils are introduced to computers that forms the stamina of the technologically driven global village and vital for survival.

He advised the youths in the country to desist from being used by politicians and mourn the late President in peace and harmony.
