—-The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has appealed to all political players that will successfully file in their nominations to conduct their campaigns peacefully and in non provocative manner during the Lukulu West Constituency by–election slated for April 23, this year.

ECZ Commissioner, Judge Christopher Mushabati, made the appeal when he addressed political parties, party agents and monitors today in a meeting held in the council chamber in Lukulu district.

Judge Mushabati said all political parties and stakeholders should familiarize and abide themselves with the electoral code of conduct.

He said the ECZ will not allow all the candidates and their political parties to engage in confrontational and violent behaviour in the run-up to the April 23 by elections in Lukulu West Constituency of the newly created Mitete district.

Judge Mushabati said all the participating candidates should submit their campaign time-tables to both the police district commanding officer for the purposes of planning and monitoring of the campaigns and also to the media for effective media coverage.

He has since urged the media to cover the entire electoral process in order to enhance the visibility of the process.

Judge Mushabati said the campaign period in Lukulu West Constituency will come to an end 48 hours before the polls on April 21, 2013.

Lukulu West Constituency fell vacant when the Supreme Court upheld the nullification of the seat by the High Court, which was held by former MMD Member of Parliament Misheck Mutelo.
