—Government says guidelines on the modalities to access livestock from the livestock breeding centres across the country will soon be released.
Agriculture and Livestock Minister, Wilbur Simuusa, said in Solwezi that the guidelines will enable farmers that would want to engage in livestock farming to start getting animals from various breeding centres in the country including other government institutions involved with livestock.
Mr Simuusa said the Kayama Cattle Breeding Centre in Mwinilunga in North-western province is among the centres that farmers in the region could access the animals from.
The minister said livestock development is another area that is showing marked growth in the agricultural sector which the majority of the population will benefit from.
He said apart from ensuring national food and nutrition security the agricultural sector is beginning to increase its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product.
