— Govt acquires 70 cameras for ZANIS

Government has acquired 70 cameras for the Zambia News and Information Service (ZANIS) at a cost of over K 400,000 to highlight development activities across the country.

 

 

And receiving the equipment, ZANIS Director Patrick Lungu said the equipment will be used to highlight the development taking place in the country.

 

 

Information and Broadcasting Services minister Godfrey Katema handed over the equipment to ZANIS at the Mass Media Complex today.

 

 

Dr Katema, who is also Chief Government Spokesperson, said information is cardinal if citizens are to make informed decisions and participate in the development process of the country.

 

 

The Minister urged the department to work around the clock and provide feedback to government from people in the districts so that development is equitably distributed in the country.

 

 

Accompanying the minister included his deputy Poniso Njeulu and Permanent Secretary Bert Mushala and other senior ministry officials.

 

 

And receiving the equipment, ZANIS Director Patrick Lungu said the equipment will be used to highlight the development taking place in the country.

 

 

Mr. Lungu  said the cameras which have dual functions of capturing both still and moving pictures will be distributed to 70 districts across the country.

 

 

He said priority will be given to disadvantaged districts that lack equipment so that they can relay information to people in the districts and also show development taking place in rural areas.
