Mwinilunga receives 7000 bags of basal fertiliser

Mwinilunga, 14 October, 2014, ZANIS..Government has delivered over 7000 x 50 kilogram bags of basal dressing fertilizer to Mwinilunga district in the Northwestern province for the 2014/2015 farming season under the Farmer Input Support Program (FISP).

District Agricultural Coordinator Bwalya Ponga told ZANIS in an interview in Mwiniunga today that over 1000 x 50 kilogram bags of top dressing fertilizer has also been received out of 20,650 x 50 kilogram and 20,150 x 50 kilogram bags  were expected respectively.

Mr Ponga further disclosed that 5000 x 10 kilogram bags of maize seed has been received out of the 10000 bags target adding that the distribution of the farming inputs was progressing well.

He has expressed hope that the district will receive all the remaining balances of both fertilizer, maize and other seed varieties before the end of this month to wind up the distribution exercise.

At least 10,000 small scale farmers are expected to benefit from the FISP exercise in the 2014/2015 farming season  in Mwinilunga district.
