Indunas from six wards in Shangombo District have endorsed the appointment of Senjembele Member of Parliament Poniso Njeulu by President Michael Sata as Deputy Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services.
The Indunas said the appointment was a victory to the people Shangombo as it will enable the MP to lobby and accesses national resources intended for development much easier than when he was merely an MP.
The Indunas from Shangombo, Ngadwe, Siwelewele, Natu, Sioma and Nangweshi wards, respectively were speaking at a rally held at Nangwesi basic school, in the District today.
The Traditional rulers said this in Shangombo, today, when Mr. Njeulu who is also Information Deputy Minister addressed the community during a rally.
Induna Walumwea of Ngandwe appealed to the people of Shangombo to rally behind the MP regardless of their political affiliation so that the deputy minister can lobby for support towards pressing problems.
And Induna Malembo of Siwelewele appealed to government to come to the aid of the people Shangombo district where there is a looming famine due to poor rainfall.
In another development, The Kaunga Mashi Barotse Royal Establishment has commended President Micheal Sata for creating Sioma district and appointing Mubiana Mutomena as District Commissioner.
Speaking when Mr. Njeulu paid a courtesy call on senior Chief Lukama of kaanja in Sioma yesterday, Induna Mutundwalo said the establishment has since offered land to the tune of 8by 5 kilometers for the creation of the new Sioma District Council.
The Induna said it was the hope of the establishment that the offer will initiate the much needed developmental programs in the district.
