Zambian boxer Catherine Phiri has been given a new opponent after South Korean Hee Yung withdrew citing the outbreak of Ebola on the continent.
And Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili will battle it out with Mwamba Kalenga the Chairperson for the sports council of Zambia in a curtain raiser bout that will add colour to the main fight.
Kambwili and Mwamba’s fight may aim at giving boxing fans more entertainment and encouraging youths to take up the sport.
With the fall out of Yung, Catherine will now fight South African Bantamweight champion Bukiwe Nonina on November 22 at government complex.
Nonina has has a record of six fights with for wins and two losses, according
World Boxing Control International secretary for Africa Nelson Sapi.
And Oriental Boxing Promotion Manager Felix Malunga has announced a K673,000 budget for the bout.
Malunga says Catherine’s purse money will also be made public to avoid unnecessary speculation.
And Hotel Diamond Acre has donated a K25, 000 to the boxers.
