SHE is arguably one of South Africa’s most celebrated and admired Gospel artistes who have made her signature through unique music that has an African touch.

Rebecca Malope arrived in Zambia at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport aboard South African Airways around 13:00 on Thursday for a highly anticipated concert at Lusaka’s Bread of Life Ministries Church.

Though by press time, just before the show, it was announced that one of Africa’s leaders Nelson Mandela who is Rebecca’s former leader had passed on, it was left to wonder how she was going to perform.

But MTN assured Times entertainment that despite the loss of one of the globally acclaimed fathers of the nation, the show would go on without any changes.

Yesterday morning, Rebecca’s fans in Lusaka were vividly shaken by the heartbreaking news of the passing of ‘Madiba’ and continued to debate on whether or not Rebecca would be able to put up a good performance or indeed call off the show.

Anyhow, the South African songstress assured the Zambians, before the Mandela passing news at the airport that she would stick to her roots and expected to be in the presence of God with her fans.

Rebecca whose music is ever fresh says she has achieved such a record of singing in the Lord through working with a lot of other gifted musicians and songwriters. Rebecca can boast of having released 32 albums in the 27 years of singing in the Lord.
