AVAP calls for continued spearheading of developmental programmes to all constituencies
Lusaka, August 19, 2014,ZANIS —- Anti Voter Apathy (AVAP)Executive director Richwell Mulwani has called on Government to continue spearheading developmental programmes in Constituencies where Member of Parliaments (MPS) have been nullified by courts of law.
Mr Mulwani says it is the duty of the government of the day to take development in all parts of the country regardless of pit-falls that besiege some of the constituencies.
The Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) reports that the AVAP Executive Director said this an interview in Lusaka today.
He noted that AVAP is concerned about lack of representation in some constituencies lacking representation due to court rulings.
He said the electorate in most constituencies without representation has cried foul due to some of developmental programmes which are not moving as expected because of the obtaining situation at hand.
Mr Mulwani said , a membrane of Parliament is a very important figure as he or she represents the counterinsurgency for the electorates in that jurisdiction.
He said the MP is the one who liaise with cabinet Ministers and other relevant senior government officials on steering development in their constituencies.
He stated that leaving the situation like that, would in future generate apathy on voters who expect to be adequately represented in parliament in many areas of national development.
