PPDAZ lauds govt bus purchase support
Solwezi, July 31, 2014, ZANIS………. The Public and Private Drivers Association of Zambia has commended Government for helping the association acquire Ten buses on loan from Higer bus manufacturers.
PPDAZ North western province Treasurer general Charles Phiri said government’s willingness to act as a guarantor for the association to purchase the buses at a cost of K245, 000 each was a sign of a government committed to supporting entrepreneurship its among citizens.
Mr. Phiri was speaking today shortly before receiving a 32 seater Higer bus which was handed over to the association in Solwezi by the Northwestern provincial administration.
And Northwestern province permanent secretary Amos Malupenga said President Michael Sata wants to empower Zambians regardless of their political affiliation or tribal background.
Mr. Malupenga said government is acting as a guarantor between the association and Higer bus suppliers because it wants to provide a conducive environment for entrepreneurship to thrive in order to create more job opportunities.
He urged the association to ensure they work hard in order to repay the loan.
A further1000 Higer buses are expected to be bought once PPDAZ pays off the loan for the that have been given to members of the drivers associations in all the 10 provinces on a pilot basis.
