The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has disclosed that the public inspection of the register of voters for Kapiri Mposhi constituency will start on 15th March and end on the 19th of the same month at the district council offices.
ECZ Public Relations Manager Chris Akufuna said the public inspection of the register follows the suspention of the continuous voter registration exercise in December last year.
The continuous voter registration exercise was suspended following by-elections in Mpongwe and Livingstone constituencies and the forthcoming by-elections in Lukulu and Kapiri Mposhi constituencies respectively.
Mr. Akufuna explained in a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today that the public inspection of the register of voters will only be conducted in Kapiri Mposhi constituency because it is the only constituency in which there have been updates to the register of voters for the forthcoming by-election.
He has since called on all registered voters in the polling districts of Kapiri Mposhi constituency to inspect and verify their details in the register of voters using their voter’s cards and the Green National Registration cards.
Mr. Akufuna however said only registered voters in the polling districts in Kapiri Mposhi constituency can verify their details and file for a claim, objection or appeal.
He added that during the same exercise, death notifications for registered voters who have died, replacement of voters’ cards, appeals and claims from registered voters will also be taken into consideration.
And Mr. Akufuna has maintained that there will be no new voter registrations and transfers.
He however said objections, claims and appeals from registered voters should be submitted to the commission not later than 19th March 2013.
