Lusaka, March 11, ZANIS –The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) the party is now popular and penetrating opposition MMD strongholds in Eastern province.
PF Media and Publicity Director Chanda Mfula says the party in the province is receiving new members who are defecting to the ruling party.
Mr. Mfula said people in Eastern province and other nine provinces have seen the need to work with the government of the day.
He was speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today.
“PF is gaining grounds in Eastern province and other opposition strongholds in some parts of the country. We’re a Front and our party is the only vehicle that can develop Zambia. There is no other credible party in the country that can bring development,” Mr. Mfula said.
He explained that the ruling party won 32 local government by-elections out of the total 36 that were conducted across the country.
And Mr Mfula said government intends to construct 650 health posts countrywide to increase access to health for citizens.
He said President Michael Sata launched the Link Zambia 8000 Project, which will spark major construction of roads countrywide making Zambia the most land-linked country in the region.
Mr. Mfula said the Zambian economy is being transformed and is on the track with the Pave Zambia 2000 project which will result in the paving of township roads countrywide.
On suspensions, the PF Media and Publicity Director said the ruling party is not affected by the suspension of some of its provincial executive members in Eastern province who are allegedly facing charges.
“The party in Eastern province is intact. A party doesn’t cripple with suspension of some party members,” Mr. Mfula said.
But MMD Treasurer Mwansa Mbulakulima in a separate interview claimed that his party was still popular across the country.
Mr. Mbulakulima, a former Copperbelt Province Minister in Rupiah Banda’s administration, said the MMD would bounce back to power in 2016 citing good policies.
