People in senior Chief Mushota’s area in Kawambwa District in Luapula province have complained of poor mobile phone network in the area.
The residents made the complaint in Kabanda village when the Ministry of Health visited the area to conduct vaccination exercises.
One of the residents Kennedy Chungu told ZANIS that people in area are forced to climb anthills while others walk to distant places
to enable them access either Airtel or MTN network.
Mr Chungu said the mast on which Airtel and MTN have fixed their gadgets is only 25 meters high making it too short to receive the signal from the Boma which is over 60 kilometers away.
Mr Chungu who was flanked by sub-chief Kabanda said people in the area are finding it very difficult to communicate with their relatives in towns because of the bad network in the area.
He said the two mobile service providers had promised to come and erect a taller mast but this has not been done.
Mr Chungu has since appealed to Airtel and MTN to come back and raise the tower to ease communication among the people in the area
