THE Geneva Global in collaboration with the Beit Trust has given the Saint Paul’s Mission Hospital eye clinic in Nchelenge K800, 000 grant for the construction of the eye theatre.
The funds will be used for the construction of the main theatre, two offices and the children’s ward, and the procurement of modern eye theatre equipment and office furniture.
Bishop Patrick Chisanga of the Catholic Diocese of Mansa revealed this during Saint Pauls’ Eye Clinic in Nchelenge District of Luapula Province during the ground breaking ceremony, at the hospital yesterday.
Bishop Chisanga thanked the Geneva Global and Beit Trust for facilitating the funds for the construction of the eye theatre at the clinic.
He said the Catholic followers believe that Christ is in the midst of the people as the risen God and continues the healing and giving of the sight to the blind through his ministers.
“We believe Christ is in our midst as the risen God and has continued to heal the sick and giving sight to the blind through the ministers of the gospel,” he said.
He observed that the geographical location of the Saint Paul’s Mission Hospital exerts more operational challenges such as inadequate space and that the gesture by the Geneva Global and Beit Trust is timely.
And Saint Paul’s Eye Clinic Coordinator Exildah Kabaso said the construction of the eye theatre at the Catholic Church run health facility must be dedicated to God.
Sister Kabaso, who celebrated her silver jubilee of dedicated service to God, the Church and the Nation yesterday, said the eye clinic has in the past depended on the main hospital theatre for surgical works on eye patients.
