Six (6) Zambia Revenue Authority employees from different stations across the country have been dismissed for dishonest conduct, while four others have been placed on suspension pending investigations over the issuance of counterfeit tax certificates in the first week of June this year.
ZRA Corporate Communications Manager Mumbuna Kufekisa in a statement issued to QFM News says taxes inclusive of penalties have been demanded from the taxpayers who obtained the counterfeit certificates.
Mr Kufekisa adds that some of them have since made the necessary payments.
He says in line with its core values – integrity and professionalism, Zambia Revenue Authority does not condone dishonesty and strives to ensure it achieves its strategic objectives of optimizing revenue collection and enhancing the professionalism and productivity of its workforce.
Mr Kufekisa states that the cases involving the affected officers were handled by the Internal Audit Department and Internal Affairs Unit of the Zambia Revenue Authority.
