Vice President Guy Scott has reassured investors in the mining sector that government will not grab their mining assets.

Dr Scott says mining companies can produce as much copper as they can as long as they pay the right taxes on the copper.

He says government wants to see the taxes paid and not seeing investors boasting of how much profit they are making, which is not helpful.

Dr Scott has also described as stupid; stories aimed scaring investors about the state of the Zambian economy.

And Dr Scott has encouraged youths in the country to take up farming and make a lot of people instead of waiting for formal jobs.

Speaking when he officially opened the 57th Copperbelt Agricultural, Mining and Commercial Show in Kitwe this afternoon, Dr Scott says the prevailing circumstance in Zambia are turning in favour of agriculture.

Dr says small scale Tobacco and Cotton farmers are celebrating after selling their crops on a higher price in view of the current exchange rate of the Kwacha against dollar.

He says the jobs are in agriculture, stating that when one takes up farming they become their own boss.

And Dr Scott has taken a swipe at Commercial farmers exploiting their workers with slave wages while amassing huge profits.

He says it is shameful that Zimbabwean commercial farmers come to Zambia and live luxurious lives yet they fail to pay their workers the minimum wage.

Dr Scott says there is need for foreign commercial farmers to respect Zambia and its people.
